Welcome, and thanks for stopping by!
Visit the blog to read about projects we work on
in the University of Arkansas Libraries.

Whether it’s a custom housing for an unusual artifact, paper repair on a fragile but noteworthy document, or measures to slow degradation of materials, each project challenges us to think in different ways to find suitable solutions. The objects we encounter each have a narrative of their own, and our preservation work seeks to maintain the physical impact of each object’s narrative and ensure the physical stability and longevity of the Libraries collections.

“The ultimate aim of conservation is not to conserve material for its own sake but, rather, to maintain (and shape) the values embodied by the heritage—with physical intervention or treatment being one of many means toward that end.”

Avrami, Mason, and de la Torre, 2000
